Vancouver Aquarium

These are old. We went to Vancouver in February, and I just looked at these today... but there's some great pictures of Gracie and her cousin at the Aquarium!

Big Bed Adventures

Gracie has been doing great in her new big bed. She's pretty good about staying in bed and playing quietly if she's not quite ready to sleep. Unfortunately, one afternoon I left her basket of hair accessories within reach and she dumped them all out in her bed and found a tube of glittery, Tinkerbell lip gloss. It was everywhere! She was so quiet about it, too. I thought I was going in to wake her up, but she had never slept, she'd just quietly coated herself, her clothes, her hair, and her bedding in glittery, waxy, sticky, lip gloss. Here's the culprit caught in the act:

Fashionista

On our way back from the library, we passed a rack of sunglasses. Gracie couldn't help herself. She had to try them all on.

This is my favourite. Check out that pose....

And trying the nerd trend on for size (which actually works for her, I think).

Watch out Victoria Beckham, this girl's taking your spot as Posh Spice!!

Crohn's and Colitis Walk in Edmonton

We had a great time at the Gutsy Walk in Edmonton, raising money for Crohns and Collitis on June 10. It was so nice to spend the day as a family, outside in the fresh air, with lots of entertainment and fun along the way.

Gracie got a tattoo painted on her arm:

We had burgers at the BBQ and walked through Rundle Park wihich was gorgeous even if it was a little rainy and over cast.

More than 12,000 people walked for the Gutsy Walk across Canada on June 10, and raised more than 2.8 million in support of Crohn's and colitis research!

Gracie's new bed

Yesterday, we went bed shopping for Gracie and picked out a brand new, big-girl bed! She picked out new bedding, too. It was a toss up, but she loved this polka dot comforter, and the Tinkerbell sheets, and they actually matched, so I went with it.

It took some debate, though.... There were so many options: blue Tinkerbell sheets or purple? Dora or Princess or Rapunzel bedding? What about Cars? After some careful debate, she settled on this set up, which is very cute. (I was secretly happy, because I had a purple set when I was little, too!)

This is her testing out the bedding while dad built her bed.

And dad putting the new sheets on (you'll notice, the drawers under the bed did not get put together before bedtime....)

Gracie could hardly climb up.

But she loved it!

Mom covering her up.

And her all settled in and cozy.

And, this is taken at about 11 pm, by her crazy mother. You'll notice it looks like daylight.... my camera flashed 3 times before it took this picture! Yikes! Luckily, she's a heavy sleeper, and didn't wake up.

You may also notice that her wall decal is now on her bed... it wasn't completely uneventful. After all, this was her first night out of the 'cage,' but she never left her bed and she went to sleep in minutes.

Is it odd that this really got to me? She's passed so many milestones, from rolling over to walking to potty training and talking, but seeing her in this big bed, I couldn't help but want to crawl in with her. She was so tiny in there and so brave. Sigh.... She's growing up. It's official.
