Weekend's Over, Back to Reality

Such a good weekend, I almost don't mind that it's a Monday.

We cracked down and got the last of the unpacking done, so barring a bit of reorganizing and clean up, the house finally looks like a house. We also went out and bought a loveseat and a big, comfy chair for our upstairs living room, which are arriving sometime today. That should finish us of for furniture, which will be great. Now I can start decorating!

I think Brad has been waiting for this. We've walked through a few stores, and he kinda watches me through the corner of his eye as we walk through and pick up nothing. He even said the other day, "I'm kinda surprised you haven't come home with your arms full of bags of new toothbrush holders and pillows and stuff." Ahhh, just you wait. Now that I know what our house looks like without the boxes, it will begin.

And, I've found the perfect store to help me spend my money. Urban Barn. Have you been? Oooo, it's good. It's one of those places where you could pick up a whole room setting and say, "wrap this up, I want it all."

Will I be changing my shopping habits because of the economic downturn? No, I don't believe I will. I'll be doing my part to help the economy of Edmonton.

But don't worry, I didn't spend the whole weekend organizing or dream shopping, I did escape for a few hours with an old friend. She picked me up and drove me all over town to check out scrapbooking stores. I am in love. I now have visited 5 different scrapbooking stores within Edmonton. So much variety and neat supplies so nearby... could be dangerous. Maybe it won't be bags of pillows that I come home with...

We visited Treasured Memories, which is quite possibly my favourite, Scrap-A-Lot, which had great prices and tons of class projects for sale, and Urban Scrapbook, which had neat alterable items.

And, if you're interested in what these and other scrapbooking stores will be coming out with in a few months, here's a peak thanks to Memory Makers of what's in store for us.

Sneak peak

Plus, Allison Orthner is there and got an interview with Paris Hilton... can't wait to see it. I'll pass it on as soon as I can.

So Many Stores So Little Time

I was lucky enough to have the day off of work on Friday so I decided to go check out some of the stores nearby. Of course I wasn't going to waste the day cleaning or finding homes for those last few things, nope had to check out some of the stores. I moved from a hamlet, remember, there weren't really stores there.

Anyway, in my travels, I found a great little scrapbook store nearby. I am in heaven. It's like ten minutes away. Yikes!

It's called Scrap and Bean and the owner is really nice and has classes and neat projects all over and she serves yummy coffees as well (hence the bean portion of the store's name).

Plus, their website is really detailed!

Check it out.

I got a few cute little things. They carry Riff Raff Designs, which are a pretty great company that I've only seen here in Edmonton. They make these laser cut chipboard pieces that almost look like wood or something much sturdier, because they're cut so precisely. Very cool.

On Saturday, I'm going out with a friend and fellow scrapbooker to check out some other stores. Can't wait! And one day, I might actually sit down and scrap. I got some neat goodies for Christmas I can't wait to play with.

Hope you're all enjoying 2009. So far, I think it will be a good year!

Still getting settled

We're almost settled now. Just a few more items need homes. We're going to build shelves in the garage and that will help out a lot.

Unfortunately, we got a few Christmas presents which are proving distracting....

Yep, the next Twilight book and Rock Band will be the reason these unpacking posts stretch into February.

I actually put off starting Eclipse for so long, and then I just couldn't do it anymore. I thought I'd just take a two minute break from unpacking to read a few pages last night, now I'm half done and I can't stop thinking about it... As my cousin says, I'm a Twerd (a Twilight nerd). I'm okay with it.

We did go out and get two new Poang chairs from IKEA. Love these things. So comfy and cheap and kinda cool looking, in my opinion.

Love that store, we got a bookshelf and some pillows and a stool too. So easy to drop money there.

Just a little update, I was looking into CHA this year, the Craft and Hobby Association's Winter show where they release all the new lines and tools and such, guess who will be there?

Paris Hilton.

I kid you not. I saw this on Leica Forrest's blog first and had to check it out. As if she isn't all ready everywhere, now she's releasing a craft line. Yep, Paris 'Crafty' Hilton.

Here's the release:

"Paris Hilton, internationally recognized model, singer, author, and entrepreneur will be available on Sunday, January 25, 2009 from 2:00 - 3:00 pm in the Wooky Entertainment booth #2500, to unveil Paris Hilton, the Creativity Collection™ a multi-faceted line of fashion crafting kits from some of the most popular craft segments including scrapbooking, jewelry making and fabric embellishment. Paris will be on hand for photos and signing autographs."

Interesting.

Better get back at it. More updates soon.

Gone so long...

So, I haven't been on here since Christmas Eve, but in my defense, we've been busy!We travelled so much between Christmas and now (sooooo much!) We went to Calgary, Crossfield, Hanna, and Lethbridge visiting family and friends, then, to Edmonton with a painting party of more friends and family and painted a good chunk of the new place. Then we started the packing, cleaning, moving, unpacking and more cleaning process, which is still ongoing. Whew!

So, now that our internet is hooked back up and I have a few moments before I have to get back to unpacking, I thought I'd hop on here and catch up a bit.

Here are some pictures of the painting process and the crew:

And the new, finalized paint job:

And some Jada pictures, my favourite person to photograph (and my dad (a.k.a. grandpa) even snuck into one of them)

My scrap room to be, in shambles at the moment:

And the weather welcoming us to Edmonton today:

Makes you wanna go for a walk, eh?!

Lastly, our new home:

Now, back to the unpacking!
